My Story
Having endured severe back problems for many years, I had the great fortune to come across Rolfing in 2003. After being told that I should never play competitive sport again, I resumed playing later that year after receiving the Rolfing® "Ten Series"!
Rolfing® had a dramatic effect; my back pain eased, I experienced an increase in energy, and I had an ease I had not known for a long time. Movement was easier and my self-confidence increased.
It took another 12 years before I realised that corporate life and owing and running businesses didn’t satisfy me any longer. I knew I wanted to work with and help people so I trained as a Rolfer.
Through my Rolfing work I came into contact with ScarWork and Craniosacral Therapy. These very gentle touch modalities have such a deep, profound effect on people. I also studied Somatoemotional Release, a powerful aspect of CranioSacral Therapy that addresses the connection between the body and emotions.
Many of my clients were, and still are, psychotherapists struggling physically and emotionally, with their own personal issues, and with holding so much on behalf of their clients.
I was increasingly drawn to the emotional and psychological content in my work with psychotherapist and other clients, spending more and more time holding space for them and listening to them speak of their struggles.
To that end I decide to upskill and take this work to a deeper level of professional expertise, undertaking a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy. This has brought my work with clients to a whole new level of depth and meaning.
The combination of these various ways of working with people can be very powerful in helping them heal in a physical, emotional and psychological manner.
